The South Hadley Chorale is pleased to announce the beginning of the South Hadley Chorale Children’s Chorus second season. In March of 2001 this group made its debut with thirty enthusiastic singers. Many of the Children’s Chorus members were also members of their school chorus and/or church choir.

Thanks to a grant from the South Hadley Cultural Council we again have the opportunity to offer a community singing group for the children of South Hadley and the surrounding towns. Once again the children’s Chorus will perform at the South Hadley Chorale Concert scheduled for March 13, 2005 at 3:00pm. The children will have the wonderful experience of singing in Abbey Memorial Chapel at Mount Holyoke College. Last year our audience was in excess of 500 people!

Children ages 8 to 13 are encouraged to join the chorus. It will be limited to 50 children who will be chosen on a first come first served basis. We will have a brief INFORMATIONAL MEETING for the children AND parents/guardian on SATURDAY, JANUARY 8th at 10:45am with a rehearsal to follow. Meetings and rehearsals will be held this year at All Saints Episcopal Church, on rt. 116 in South Hadley Center.

The conductor of the children’s chorus is Catherine Waldron who has over 20 years of experience teaching music in the elementary schools and conducting church and school choirs. In addition to being a music teacher at center School in Longmeadow, Cathy also Music Director at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Springfield. She has also directed the combined children’s choirs for the Hartford/Springfield Choristers Guild Festival.
